Automatic turntables are something that customers have asked for for years, but Pro-Ject wanted to do justice to the concept, and so the A1 was designed and created. Using tried and tested mechanisms the A1 is simple, and a joy, to use. No more listening to the run-out groove for 5 minutes persuading yourself to kick the cat off of your lap to stop the record - the A1 lets you settle in, enjoy an album and then stay resting. If you fall asleep as a result? I see that as a positive!
Many of our turntables may have multiple compatible counterweights available. The counterweight you actually need is the one that allows you to balance your existing cartridge while ideally sitting near the tonearm bearing when fully installed.
If your counterweight sits right at the back of the tonearm, it runs the risk of introducing some micro-vibrations, so aiming for a counterweight where your cartridge weight is in the lower range of the supported weights is ideal.
