An Introduction to Klipsch Heritage Loudspeakers

Klipsch Heritage

To be labelled a Klipsch Heritage Series speaker means the company's founder, Paul W. Klipsch, played a pivotal role in the design, development and engineering of the original product. With his unique view of the world, and the iconic status of the products he produced, PWK is an undisputed legend of the hi-fi industry; and the Klipsch Heritage Series embodies all of his beliefs into a select range of luxury, audiophile speakers.

The Klipsch Heritage Series is proudly designed and assembled in the little town of Hope, Arkansas right where Paul W. Klipsch started it all. Each speaker is built in small production runs, using furniture-grade wood veneers and featuring the company's own horn-loaded technologies to deliver an unsurpassed acoustic experience. These speakers are legitimate heirloom-items that you will find yourself wanting to pass on to future generations.

All Heritage Speakers are at the absolute zenith of Klipsch's four guiding principles. These are High Efficiency / Low Distortion, resulting in louder, cleaner audio; Controlled Directivity, using horns to create a more lifelike soundstage without wasting acoustic energy where sound is not needed or desired; Wide Dynamic Range, so the softest sounds are reproduced with remarkable clarity and the loudest sounds are delivered without harshness or distortion – with the greatest possible range between the softest and loudest sounds; and Flat Frequency Response, so the sonic presentation is delivered without frequency bias – no unnatural highs, mids or lows – reproducing recorded sound as accurately as possible without colorization.

Reference Base 2022 Range Explained

Klipsch Reference Base

The Klipsch Reference line of loudspeakers feature premium technical and industrial design characteristics, inspired by more expensive Klipsch speaker designs, but at a price that belies the sound they deliver. Tuned to work both for Hi-Fi and Home Cinema applications, Klipsch Reference Base speakers rock the house like nothing else thanks to some clever technology.

Like all Klipsch speakers, the 2022 Reference range makes use of horn technology to deliver an un-paralleled sound performance. Horn-loading allows for controlled directivity, ensuring the high-frequency energy is aimed at the listener for increased focus, dynamics, clarity and detail. Horn technology also facilities high efficiency driver operation with low-distortion, as less electrical power is required to make a louder sound. There is also Wider Dynamic Range, which makes dialogue and vocals much clearer - distinguishing clearly between the loudest and quietest sections of a performance. However, even though there is all this increased performance, the delivery is tuned with a flat frequency response, so the audio track remains exactly as the creator intended.

Cosmetically the 2022 Reference range also makes a great leap forward, compared to previous designs. There's the classicly-styled cabinet made from scratch-resistant black wood grain vinyl, with an ultra-thin border edge around the dark front baffle. The horn structure is now edge-to-edge, which improves the controlled directivity of the speaker, making for a wider, more detailed sweet spot. Meanwhile the new TCP spun-copper woofers are lighter and stiffer than previous generations and have a steeper cone then before, which allows them to create a better, more inviting sound-field than ever before. The floorstanders also have high-strength injection-moulded feet that angle the speaker back 2° for a look reminiscent of the latest RF-7 III speakers, and all models (excl. subwoofers) feature magnetic speaker grilles.

The 2022 Reference range also takes Dolby Atmos more seriously than any speakers that came before it. There's the R-40SA Atmos topper and the R-605FA floorstander with integrated height channel, but now the R-600F and R-800F speakers now have internal cabling that allows you to add the R-40SA without having to run speaker wire from the floor up-to the top of the speaker. The result is a more elegant, easier to integrate product than ever before.

Klipsch Reference Premiere Range Explained

RP-8000F II

RP-8000F II

Klipsch Reference Premiere

Redesigned from the ground up, the all-new Reference Premiere series leverages over 70 years of Klipsch signature acoustic expertise with cutting-edge technology to deliver the ultimate home theatre and hi-fi listening solution. Designed to work effortlessly in both Hi-Fi and Home Cinema installations, Klipsch Reference Premiere speakers deliver a powerful yet refined sound that sets them apart from every other speaker brand.

Like all Klipsch speakers, the 2022 Reference Premiere range makes use of horn technology to deliver an unparalleled sound performance.

Where the Reference Premiere range impresses most is in its technical considerations. The proprietary Tractrix® horn loading technology ensures the high-frequency energy of the Reference Premiere series speakers is aimed directly at the listener and reduces unwanted, artificial reverb for the most clear, detailed, lifelike sound possible. The horn makes use of a silicon fascia and computer-moulded phase plugs (acting as a filter) to ensure the sound remains smooth and inviting. The tweeter itself is one of Klipsch's finest designs, featuring a titanium diaphragm with a piston-like motion thanks to Linear Travel Suspension technology for a low-distortion delivery. Elsewhere, Klipsch's premium Cerametallic™ woofers ensure the low-end delivery remains in control regardless of how hard you want to push it. The Reference Premiere range is finished throughout with Tractrix® ports for improved air movement away from the cabinet.

Each Reference Premiere speaker features a smooth black front baffle with stylish copper rings around the horn mouth and woofer. The side and rear of the cabinet are finished in a luxury wood finish, available either in Ebony (Black) or Walnut. Reference Premiere floorstanders have pre-mounted cast-aluminium feet for minimal contact with the ground, and all speakers in the range feature magnetic grilles.

Hybrid Tractrix® horn structure with silicone fascia reduces resonance for a smoother frequency response Vented 1" LTS tweeter with titanium diaphragm exceeds the performance of previous designs Proprietary Cerametallic™ woofers are the Reference Premiere series signature statement for both sound and aesthetics Tractrix® ports used throughout the range for better air movement

C 95 II

Jamo Concert Series

The Jamo Concert 9 II passive speaker line includes tower speakers, monitors a centre channel and a dedicated surround sound speaker. Boasting a variety of technical strengths, all speakers in the range feature a balanced, natural sound that’s suited to 2.0, 2.1 or full home cinema listening environments.

The Concert 9 II range employs Hybrid Composition Conical Cones (HCCC) for its main drivers. These purpose-chosen woofers are capable of remaining clean and clear in their sonic presentation, even when being driven hard. Similarly, the Long Displacement Surround (LDS) technology used ensures a more natural sound with clearer transitions between highs and lows, while the Anti-Diffraction WaveGuide (ADW) technology guarantees immersive and impactful listening, even when you’re sat out of the sweet spot. The redesigned silk dome tweeter also features on every model, boasting an extra-large surround, which lowers distortion for smoother high-frequencies and greater extension.

Drawing on the brand’s award-winning design DNA, Concert 9 II also boasts updated aesthetics with natural textiles for a homely, modern speaker enclosure. Available in furniture-grade, scratch-resistant Black Ash and a limited edition White Oak finish, each Concert 9 II speaker is designed to blend seamlessly into modern environments. Featuring new, premium magnetic grilles (charcoal grey on the Black Ash finish and heather grey on the White Oak), satin painted MDF baffles with a neat rounded finish, polished chrome logos and cast metal stabilizer feet on the floorstanders, the entire Concert 9 II range remains aesthetically elegant while delivering exceptional acoustics.
