Every other month, we shine a light on a handpicked combination of audio components that work beautifully together to deliver an exceptional hi-fi experience. This time we’ve chosen an analogue-based system that’s a bit different from the norm…
The C-Dur Concrete is an elegant but meticulously crafted turntable that deserves pride of place in any audiophile’s system. This luxurious turntable focuses heavily on the mass-loaded principle to provide ultimate stability during playback. Utilising high-quality materials with purpose throughout the design results in numerous sonic and aesthetic advantages.
Featuring a generator assembly that is flexible and sturdy, the Sumiko Songbird offers the highest fidelity possible in a perfect balance of clarity and romance. Vocals and acoustic instruments in particular shine with this clear, warm and ultra-musical cartridge. It’s a great march with the C-Dur, thanks to the excellent isolation the turntable offers.
The RA180 is a state-of-the-art Class AD integrated amplifier that has been carefully crafted to deliver rigorous clarity and a near-perfect natural sound. Offering a customisable experience through the inclusion of a user adjustable active crossover and featuring a semi-exposed retro-industrial aesthetic, the RA180 would fit perfectly into any premium audio system. Here, we’re making use of the RA180’s phono stage, which makes use of an expertly designed circuit, with adjustable settings for low-band bass TURNOVER and high-band ROLL OFF, which tailor the amplifier to perfectly suit the EQ filter that each vinyl record was originally produced with.
Piega’s Coax Gen 2 611 feature an eye-catching elegant and timeless appearance that make a statement in any room. Its two 160 mm woofers supported by three passive radiators, and its significantly larger volume ensure a full-bodied bass response. In this environment, the C112+ coaxial ribbon can fully exploit its dynamic reserves and inspires with its equally natural and vibrant sound diversity. The Gen 2 series produces an immaculate sound and you can view the full range here. They require a bit of power to drive them correctly, but the RA180 has that in spades and makes a beautiful sonic match with the Piega’s own sound signature.
There’s no doubt this system is a bit “different” to others, but one thing is guaranteed with it – and that’s a thoroughly enjoyable sound. It also goes to show the great diversity of products on offer through Henley Audio.
